Month 2 of Gold is your advanced assessment month, where teams demonstrate true reliability: dogs working fully off‑lead, maintaining 100% focus, and responding confidently from a distance. This is the point where your training shifts from “skilled” to “exceptional,” and we assess whether you’re ready to pass the highest-level group. 🐾 What this month develops Gold handlers refine the behaviours that matter most in real‑world control: Off‑lead responsiveness your dog working freely while staying mentally connected to you. Distance control — responding to cues even when you’re several metres away. High‑level focus — ignoring distractions and choosing you every time. Precision behaviours clean positions, reliable recalls, and calm stationary work. These skills show that your dog isn’t just trained they’re trustworthy. 📝 The assessment At the end of the month, you’ll complete a structured off‑lead assessment that includes: Off‑lead heelwork and engagement Distance cues (sit, down, stay, recall) Long‑duration stationary behaviours Focus tests around controlled distractions Real‑world reliability checks The goal isn’t perfection; it’s demonstrating control, consistency, and a strong working partnership without the safety net of a lead.
