Hey There
Before you dive in, I wanted to share a little of my journey—where I started, the dogs who shaped my career, and how Off-Leash Obedience came to be. The story below is a snapshot of the path that brought me here today.
All About Me
My name is Rob, and my lifelong connection with dogs began in childhood, growing up around working German Shepherds. From an early age, I knew I wanted to pursue a career that allowed me to work closely with dogs and contribute to the communities they serve.
I began my professional journey as a response officer before progressing to the role of dog handler in 2003. Throughout my career, I had the privilege of working with highly capable patrol dogs, whose achievements were a direct reflection of the rigorous training, discipline, and individualised development I invested in them. Their accomplishments were recognised through several awards, including the Sussex Police Divisional Commendation for acts of bravery and a PDSA Commendation after one of my dogs alerted me to a violent assault on a female. That same dog later tracked and located the offender after he fled the scene.
Alongside my operational duties, I often assisted members of the public with their dogs, offering guidance and support whenever I could. This work reinforced my passion for helping owners build stronger, more effective relationships with their dogs.
During the pandemic, I sought a way to reconnect the community and provide meaningful support during a challenging time. This led to the creation of our group classes, which quickly grew in popularity and ultimately became the foundation of Off-Leash Obedience.
In July 2023, after two decades of service, I retired from my patrol role to dedicate myself fully to the business. Today, Off-Leash Obedience represents more than a training service it is a family-oriented community where owners and dogs learn, progress, and grow together.
